Doula Services - Mahogany Maternity
A certified doula is a paraprofessional who provides childbirth education, evidence based information regarding best practices in maternal health, comfort techniques, breastfeeding and labor support as well as postpartum care.
BIRTH DOULA SERVICES
Birth doula services can begin as soon as pregnancy is established. Moms are encouraged to begin prenatal care and doctor's visit accompaniment is available. Families are supported according to their own preferences and needs. Continuous labor support has been proven to reduce stress, risks and duration of labor. I work with the health care team to assist you with your best possible birth.
BREASTFEEDING/LACTATION SERVICES
As a vital part of childbearing and infant care, breastfeeding and lactation support are included in both birth and postpartum doula services. Families will be supported with the most current evidence- based information on breastfeeding, the laws surrounding breastfeeding and the workplace/public, as well as pumping and milk storage. Assistance in obtaining hospital grade pumps is available.
POSTPARTUM DOULA SERVICES
Postpartum doula services include practical support for mother and baby, to acclimate the family to their new structure. Support for infant care, as well as instruction for self-care for mother are vital to the overall health of the family to reduce postpartum stressors. Referrals to community resources and support organizations are available.
