The Dunes House was founded in 1972 and has offered healing, comfort and solace to people in recovery since its founding. People in need are referred to the Dunes House from local hospitals, law enforcements agencies, soup kitchens, not-for-profit agencies, churches and word of mouth.
Recovering alcoholics often refer to AA meetings, sponsors, and the support of others as “a port in the storm.” Dunes House of Michigan City, IN is that port. It is a place to find support and fellowship from other people who are recovering and who understand the struggles of addiction in a personal and empathetic way. The Dunes House is a community agency that offers a long-term residence house for nine men as well as 16 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week. They also offer Open Meetings, Al-Anon and Narc-Anon meetings. The recovery is gained from the strength of the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, and the members who share their stories, trials, struggles and successes.

People Served: The Dunes House has offered healing, comfort, and solace to people in recovery since 1972 when it received its not-for-profit status. The Residence Program is open to any man over 18 who is currently sober and looking for a way out of the cycle of addiction. The Dunes House’s meetings serve men and women, of all backgrounds, occupations, and financial means. In this house, they are all welcome and responsible for maintaining their sobriety. Meetings are comprised of newly sober people as well as people with up to 50 years of sobriety. There are no professionals, such as counselors or psychologists, at the meetings.
